CEO Talk: Slow It All Down

CEO Talk: Slow It All Down

I know it might be overdue by a month but better than nothing, let me represent the whole Arumdalu team sayING HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017! 2016 has been truly a busy year for us and we have faith 2017 will be a greater year with more exciting projects coming up for all of us. From early December last year, I have been reviewing the year of 2016 and thinking “What should be our direction in 2017 as a company?”.

In 2016 we finally launched our research garden Arumdalu lab, the most crucial element in Arumdalu group, to the public to share the goodness of Arumdalu wellness lifestyle to the public. It was indeed surprising for us to get overwhelming positive responses from the Jakartans (Yes I call us Jakartans who live in Jakarta^^), that truly have positive impacts on their lives when they went back to their daily hectic routines. This made us even firmer in our confidence in bringing more wellness activities to our customers both in Jakarta and Belitung.

From mid December 2017, we have started brainstorming on new exciting projects and campaigns to be done in our Eco Luxury resort in Belitung island, and in Arumdalu lab in Jakarta. So many amazing ideas we have gathered yet I personally feel, we still need the kick to sum up everything we want to do into a successful campaign. I know it is about Slow Living life and the goodness of life, but for me personally I want it to be truly impactful positively and I was still missing the kick that time.

I searched and searched, talking to my mentors, business partners, reading trends, travelling around, and even trying to balance my life even better with better balanced lifestyle. And then one faithful day came few week ago. I was enjoying a Sunday lunch with my family & my family friends in a restaurant and bought a plate full of stir fried fresh Jakarta clam. At night while I was relaxing and ready to bed to prepare for the coming working week, I suddenly felt dizzy and started having fever. Making story short, I got serious diarrhea for a week paired with high fever and weak body because of clam poisoning. At first I did not know why, but from the blood test I took and consultation with my doctor, and he said I got a “Jackpot”. So what happened is I got a food poisoning from the clam I ate on that faithful Sunday, while pairing it with the condition of my body that is a little weaker that week due to my super hectic schedule. None of my family/friends got this sickness at all but me, ”Jackpot” right?

This food poisoning hurt my intestines which I am still recovering now the moment I am typing this.  Clamp is one of my favourite dish since I was young and I never ever get any sickness from it as my stomach is pretty strong I guess to almost any food with any level of hygiene. I was surprise with my good balance lifestyle, a simple dish can bring a food poisoning that created so much calamity to my tight schedule which I need to cancel the whole week I was sick. This makes me question the level of freshness of seafood in Jakarta.

“When I was lying on the bed for the whole week, it got me thinking on how impactful and important the food we eat to almost everything we face in our live.”

When I was lying on the bed for the whole week, it got me thinking on how impactful and important knowing what are food we eat to almost everything we face in our live, not just merely having a balanced in lifestyle and schedule. I started to re-realising the importance in knowing where the food we eat came from and how it can benefit us. We all have hope, dreams, and aim we are fighting for each day but often we forget the meals we took three times daily are crucial in deciding the outcome of the day because they basically get into our body first before even ideas coming into our brain! The food we eat daily, the activities we do after work and during weekend, and also our understanding in taking things slower sometimes are the balance we all need to realise. Hardwork alone does not define 100% on how to become successful, but the ability to balance your life like a melody that makes you a successful individual in life.

“We all have hope, dreams, and aim we are fighting for each day but often we forget the meals we took three times daily are crucial in deciding the outcome of the day because they basically get into our body first before even ideas coming into our brain!”
And THIS IS IT! This is the kick I was looking for. It is the personal experience of taking care what we eat & what we have to balance our hectic urban lifestyle. This personal experience makes me very firm in launching 2017 with a new fresh decision, I want 2017 be the year that  Arumdalu can become a crucial influencer in a slow living wellness campaign. I want Arumdalu Private Resort to be able to bring impact to the people of our guests and customers to join us in living healthier & providing services that are crucial for your success and happiness in the long run. We don’t want to just merely serving the best of eco luxury service only, but to educate our guests.

“Hardwork alone does not define 100% on how to become successful, but the ability to balance your life and understanding everything comes inside you is like a melody that makes you a successful individual in life.”
